"They kept charging me for renter’s insurance after my lease was up. When I called to fix this and politely asked them to refund the extra two months that they charged me, Lisa yelled insults at me and hung up on me! Highly unprofessional, please go to a therapist."

"We just returned to Nashville to share Thanksgiving with our children and grandkids. We are Florida residents; however, we maintain a home in Franklin and keep a vehicle there. We place the insurance on hold for that portion of the year we are absent. This morning I called the John Shaffer Insurance Agency, expecting a long call to have the coverage placed back in force. Definitely not the case, my call was answered on the first ring by a real person, Carol Stuart. She was efficient, polite, and charming. I briefly explained what I needed and she replied, “I will take care of it”. I heard a few keyboard clicks, and she returned the call and advised I would receive two emails one which had to be signed and the other furnishing new insurance cards. That was it! She closed by wishing us a “Happy Thanksgiving”. By far the best experience I have had with an insurance company."

"Spent months trying to get ahold of them to make changes to my policy, which they then did incorrectly, and could not get them to transfer my account to another insurance agent with a little more competency."

"Absolutely terrible experience with this company and this office. My debit card expired, and so instead of calling me and asking me to update it, they just canceled my policy and left me driving without insurance for months without me even knowing it was canceled. This is one of the worst experiences I've had with any company. Now since I've had lapsed coverage, everything is doubled. Don't think for a second they care about individuals when they choose not to call and just cancel your plan. I've never had a lapse in coverage on anything and have perfect credit. These folks aren't interested in individuals and managing accounts. EDIT: They called me within 15 minutes of me posting this review, not to resolve the issue, but only to yell at me for posting this review. I answered the phone and the first words she said were “do you think what you just did was appropriate?”, continued to yell at me, and at some point telling me “karma” is coming. Unbelievable. I find it interesting they call real quick about a negative review but seem to not be able to find the time to reach out with a phone call when a debit card needs updated with the new expiration year instead of just silently canceling my plan. Eventually I had to just say have a nice day and hang up the phone. Me having my insurance cut off silently could have literally put me in financial ruins if something happened."

"Matt, We hate that your experience with State Farm and our agency was so negative. We do our best to inform our customers when they are overdue on a bill, not only the bill due, the past due letter, and the cancellation notice that were all mailed to you - but also via email as a courtesy reminder that your card had expired and that you needed to contact us to update your payment information, but we did not hear back from you. We love our customers and consistently strive to go the extra mile for them. That is why Lisa spent over an hour working with you and for you to try to get you some extra grace from corporate since the initial grace period had passed since receiving your last payment. As you know, she chased it up the corporate ladder explaining your situation and advocating on your behalf, but they were not able to bend to our wishes. Even after that, we didn’t give up on you and connected you to an unlisted Executive Customer Service line, as that was the last shot at being able to help you. Overall we spent multiple hours advocating on your behalf in hopes that you could still have affordable insurance despite not paying the bill for months. We are a family owned local business, and Lisa is not only the “Mom” of the family but she carries those “Mama” instincts over into her customer service. That’s why she has organized yard work days for us to go help our older customers, that’s why she hand-delivered a customer’s ID card that needed it that day and didn’t have a printer at home, and that’s why she fought for you with everything in her power to get you extra grace. For Lisa, reading “don’t think for a second they care about individuals” after all the work she’d put into trying to fix your situation hit on a personal level because, again, she always goes above and beyond to help. She advocates for her customers, just like she advocated for you. Her subsequent call was emotionally charged as she felt she had gone to bat for you and cared for you as an individual beyond what her job description calls for. The call was professionally inappropriate, and for that, I do apologize. When someone puts their heart into what they do, having that work disregarded can cause emotional responses. The appropriate response in this situation might have actually been to let your case go entirely - to look at your unpaid bill from months ago and say “too bad” - but that is not what we do at this agency.
